Those are the words of a legend……………how true they are……..life is a true test of your courage, strength of your character and determination to fight it out……cause things not gonna be easy………ever.

I feel very proud today as an Indian like all other fellow Indians worldwide and also proud of the global family to tell this story which is not only amazingly inspiring but also from real life and this story like many others, becomes the torch bearer of human courage, human determination and brings forth the die hard attitude to achieve the impossible……..and to make it possible………:)

Already, numerous articles, posts are already available on this story and it has been made into a major film, but this is my humble take of the same, as I see it…….

Meet Poorna Malavath….all of 13…..a tribal girl from a little village in the Telengana region in Southern India. Like every other children in her native home town, life was far from easy, and difficult to the core……particularly for girls, where they are married off at a very early age and not allowed to pursue any dreams, whether big or small. Born of farmer parents, this little girl took her studies in a Welfare society school like every other children in her village……………………….and she had a dream…….she nurtured it…..she saw this dream every night……………………………………………………..

“At a height of 29029 ft above sea level, the highest point on earth is always the epitome of all adventures…..the mother of all dreams for dreamers of this world…..and for mountain climbers, the mighty Everest is the ultimate pilgrimage…….which drains everyone out of any bodily strength one might have to continue this ardous climb through the death zone above 25000 ft where the air is so thin, that human bodies are not designed to survive. And in that a situation, all that remains is mind power, will force and determination of not to fall…………….till one reaches the pointed top of this Third Pole…..at a height where jet airliners fly………………………Everest is the ultimate challenge for all……..and Everest always has the last word……”

And that was the dream of our Poorna Malavath…..at age 13 and 10 months, to climb and conquer Mt. Everest…………………..sounds crazy ?………for Poorna, it was not……:)

While her elder sister was married off early as per the custom in that village, Poorna secretly nurtured her dream until she met a Civil servant posted in her district Dr. Praveen who was himself had great interest in mountaineering and wanted to help all climbers to realize their dream in any way he can……..and under his guidance and motivation, Poorna got shortlisted for operation Everest along with another tribal boy from her village……….and began her training….

She spent the next few months in Darjeeling and Sikkim in hostile climate, training for rock climbing and mountaineering and acclaimatising…….she also trained in hostile and difficult terrains in the Ladakh region…….and prepared herself for a journey under apprehensions of experienced climbers from all around the world, uncertain feelings from her family members and many, but with her single minded determination she marched on…………where many senior experienced Everest expeditioners had succumbed in the past, on the deadly trail of the South Face of Everest………….

On 25th May, 2014, Poorna Malavath became the youngest girl to summit Everest at 13 years and 10 months along with her fellow climber S. Anand Kumar from the same village…………and raised the Indian national flag atop like many other Indians have done previously.

She proved that with mental strength to endure difficulty, anything is possible………..:)….

This is the amazing real story of a little girl from a tribal village……who with her determination and help from other well wishers, achieved her dream…….which she was confident of achieving……:)

And this is the excerpts of the movie which was made by our ace director Rahul Bose on this amazing true story……….is a must watch…..

With courage and determination you can achieve wonders……….

Since then, Poorna had already climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa and she is preparing for her next big climb………:)…
